Terminals and cruise lines

The Port of Galveston has four cruise terminals: 10, 16, 25 and 28, all along Harborside Drive. Cruise lines sailing from Galveston include Carnival, Disney Cruise Line, MSC Cruises, Norwegian, Princess and Royal Caribbean. Margaritaville at Sea is scheduled to join as the port's seventh line in fall 2027.

Terminal assignments can change by ship and season, so check your cruise documents for your terminal. When you book with us, we confirm it again the day before.

When to arrive

• Follow your check-in time first. Your cruise line's assigned arrival window beats any general advice.
• The sweet spot is 10:30–11:00 a.m. The Port says terminals usually open for check-in then, with boarding starting around 11:00–11:30.
• Noon to 2 p.m. is the busiest. Expect the longest check-in and security lines.
• Don't come before 10 a.m. You'll just wait outside the terminal.

Getting there from Houston

Everyone reaches the island on I-45 and the Galveston Causeway. The Port recommends at least 30 extra minutes for traffic, especially on Saturday sailings in peak season or when several ships leave the same day. Typical drive times outside rush hour:

• Hobby Airport: about 55 minutes
• Downtown or the Galleria: about 1 hour
• IAH Bush Intercontinental: about 1 hour 20 minutes

Parking vs. a private transfer

If you drive, you'll book port parking and either walk from a nearby lot or ride a shuttle from an economy lot. It works, but you're loading luggage onto shuttles on both ends and driving home tired after the cruise.

With a private cruise transfer, your chauffeur loads the bags at your door or the airport, drives you to the terminal curb, and meets you when you disembark. It's a flat rate per trip, and SUVs fit six with luggage, while a Sprinter handles family groups of up to fourteen.

Disembarkation day

Ships usually arrive early in the morning, and guests leave in waves over a few hours. Tell us your ship. We watch its arrival and stage the vehicle when you clear the terminal. Flying home the same day? Leave plenty of time to reach Hobby or IAH.
